So basically for my short film I have been thinking about the main settings where the story will take place. Since the story focuses on Jeronimo slowly becoming more unhappy with his life and starting to make bad decisions, the settings will help show that change. The main places in the film will be Jeronimo’s office and his home.
The first setting is Jeronimo’s office where he works his boring job. This office will actually be filmed inside my house, but I will design the room to look like a real office. I plan to add things like a desk, computer, papers, and other office items to make the space feel like a workplace.
The goal is to make the room feel plain and repetitive, just like Jeronimo’s daily routine. The office will look somewhat dull and simple to show how bored Jeronimo is with his life. There will likely be scenes of him sitting at his desk, typing on a computer, or doing the same tasks over and over again.
This is also where we will see Santiago, Jeronimo’s coworker. Since Santiago dresses better and has more confidence, he may stand out more compared to Jeronimo even though they are in the same office environment.
The second setting is Jeronimo’s home
where he lives with his wife Maria. This location will feel more personal and relaxed at the beginning of the film. However, as Jeronimo begins drinking and doing drugs more often, the house will slowly start to look messier and more chaotic.
For example, there may be empty bottles on the table, clutter around the room, or things left out of place. This will help visually show how Jeronimo’s life is starting to fall apart.
This is also where many of the arguments between Jeronimo and Maria will take place. Maria will try to keep Jeronimo on track and encourage him to make better choices, but he will slowly stop listening to her.
